Winter 2015 – 2016 Newsletter

Hello Fellow Paddlers!

Welcome to first newsletter of our 2015/2016 kayaking season.

I hope everyone had a great summer! It’s that time of year where we are now looking forward to the coming winter season. We have a few new and exciting trips to offer this season, plus all of our favorite classics! Hilary, Joel, and myself are all looking forward to paddling beautiful Baja again this winter.

It’s been a super busy summer for all of us. Hilary has been non-stop kayaking from Gabriola Island, here on the BC coast with our sister company Silva Bay Kayak Adventures. Our youth adventure camps have been a full and fun as ever. Plus we have had weekly drop-in events with as many as 30 paddlers out for a sunset paddle!

This summer Joel was working with Vive Loreto and Dolphin Dive Center. He is now a PADI Certified dive master, and training to become a dive Instructor!

I have spent most of my summer on Haida Gwaii again as Captain and Kayak Guide on the M.V. Island Bay (www.tourhaidagwaii.com), running mother-ship kayak tours in Gwaii Haanas National Park. I also did a few trips as first mate on the sailboat Achiever, doing some amazing research and marine conservation work for the Raincoast Conservation Foundation. It was another summer full of great people, amazing wildlife, and beautiful places!

We are looking forward to another fun Baja kayak season, which kicks off with a new Mulege to Loreto to starting November 2nd! I hope to see all of you again, whether here on Gabriola, Haida Gwaii, or down in Loreto, Baja again!

I’m very excited for the coming season: seeing the amazing wildlife, the start of whale season in mid-February, hanging out with the ranch family in San Cosme, trying these exciting new trips, as well as paddling my favorite routes again.

Thanks for reading and I hope to see you soon!

Happy Paddling,
