If these dates don't work for you or your group just let us know and we can try to customize a trip to suit your schedule!

ITINERARY:
DAY 0
The day before we start our journey and a day to meet the guides to shop for food and supplies for the trip. Our first group meeting is at CAFE OLE at 4:00 MST in Loreto. We will do a group shopping together where the guides can help with quantities, labels, and sourcing out ingredients for meals. You arrange accommodation in Loreto for this night. See our website on the IN LORETO page for some great accommodation choices.

DAY 1-2:
Get your own breakfast this morning, then be ready for an 8a.m. pickup from your hotel, to shuttle to Puerto Escondido, about 25km south of Loreto. On the beach upon arrival our guides will provide a paddle skills and technique lesson for all, as well as hints on how to pack kayaks for an expedition. From this launch spot we’ll paddle across to Isla Danzante for a lunch break at beautiful Honeymoon Cove, then cross over to Isla Carmen and paddle along the shore to our first campsite. Both crossings are about 1.5 hours each.

DAY 2-3-4:
Camp on the south end of Isla Carmen where we will explore the islands white sand beaches and see abundant colorful fish from our kayaks. Snorkeling is a great way to spend the afternoon too. Camping at Punta Baja is a fabulous point of land looking south and a 360 degree view of the islands and the Sierra Giganta Mountain range along the peninsula coastline. Of course there are sightings of whales, (fin, humpback, or blue - the largest mammal on the planet!) dolphins sometimes swim along side our boats and there are eagle rays that fly right out of the water and skim along the top of waves. The bird life is very interesting too and you will see ospreys nesting in the rock stacks above the shoreline. The sunsets are phenomenal here and you will see it set behind the rugged peaks of the Sierra Giganta Mountains, and watch the stars come out in the brilliant dome of the Baja night sky! Our guides carry a library of natural history books in their kayaks so there will be lots of time to talk about the wildlife and flora and fauna.

DAY 5:
Cross over and camp on Isla Danzante after circumnavigating its rugged and fascinating shoreline. There will be stops along the way to stretch and have lunch on the beaches around the Island. Honeymoon Cove on Danzante is the renouned safe anchorage for many sailors on their way North or South. We usually camp here or nearby to enjoy the hiking, swimming, and snorkeling in this fabulous bay.

DAY 6: A short paddle from Isla Danzante gets us to our take-out spot near Puerto Escondido by noon. From there we taxi 25 km back to Loreto. A cold drink and fresh fish tacos in Loreto will no doubt be in order! Getting back mid afternoon means time to relax a bit in town. There is good walking all over this lovely small historic town (about 7000 population). Our groups usually meet for dinner this evening to download or debrief the trip events and enjoy a meal together at one of the great restaurants in town.
